Mobikwik becomes 1st mobile wallet to sell JioPhones
NEW DELHI: Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has joined hands with Indian mobile wallet major MobiKwik to sell JioPhone through the latter’s app.
The JioPhone helped the 4G entrant’s sister company, Reliance Retail, to become India’s top feature phone brand in the fourth quarter ended December 31, pipping Korean major Samsung.
Speaking on the association, Bikram Bir Singh, Business Head at MobiKwik said, “We are proud to become the first mobile wallet to sell Jio phones in India. Users can book their phone in four easy steps and avail great benefits as well.”
On successful payment, users will receive a confirmation SMS from Jio with transaction details and another SMS with store details from where they can collect JioPhone after identity verification.
Recently, Reliance Jio has introduced new tariffs for JioPhone users with offers like 1GB data with free calls at Rs 49.
The 4G entrant is now planning an ultra cheap Android GO operating system based 4G smartphone in partnership with MediaTek.
