Honor 9N, the latest in the line of mid-range smartphone from Huawei’s online sub-brand, has been launched in India on Tuesday. Honor 9N is the global variant of the Honor 9i which had launched in China earlier. The smartphone packs a full-screen display with a notch; is powered by the Kirin 659 SoC and features a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The Honor 9N competes against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Nokia 6.1 (2018) and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 in the sub Rs. 20,000 price bracket.
The smartphone is available in three RAM and storage variants- the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage model is priced at Rs. 11,999; the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model is priced at Rs. 13,999 and the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage model is priced at Rs. 17,999. The smartphones are exclusive to Flipkart and will be available for purchase starting July 31 at 12 noon on the e-tailer.
In terms of specifications, Honor 9N has a compact form-factor. The rear makes use of a plastic-like material that is reportedly coated with 12 layers of glass to give it that mirror-like effect. The front of the smartphone is almost bezel-less with a noticeable chin, and a tiny display notch that houses the earpiece, camera and sensors. On the display front, the Honor 9N has a 5.84-inch Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with a notch and a 19:9 aspect ratio.
Honor 9N is powered by the custom Kirin 659 chipset with octa-core Cortex-A53 CPUs and Mali- T830 GPU. The smartphone includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (no provision of expandable storage via microSD card). On the camera front, there is dual rear setup- 13-megapixel primary lens with f/2.2 aperture + 2-megapixel secondary lens and LED flash. The primary cameras support PDAF, Wide aperture mode and AR lens. The selfie camera is a 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture, screen flash, 4 in 1 light fusion technology and 3D facial recognition.
Honor 9N is backed by a 3000mAh battery without support for fast charging. There is a standard Micro USB 2.0 port for charging and a 3.5-mm headphone jack. The smartphone runs on Emotion UI EMUI 8.0 which is based on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.
The multifunctional fingerprint sensor on the Honor 9N can be used to answer calls, click photos/ videos, show notification panel, browse photos and also stop the alarm. Moreover, the smartphone can sync up to 7 devices to play music and there are other features like Ride Mode, one-touch Paytm access and Party Mode on the Honor 9N.
